Hello again! :D

Hi! I know I’m a whole week late, I’m sorry 😦

This have been crazy this week, I had lots of work and had very little sleep. Now, I should be studying for a test on Tuesday night and I feel so irresponsible right now. Anyways, here comes my criticism!

Burlesque

At first I thought this would be the typical movie were this young, pretty, talented small town girl moves in to the big city in order to find herself and fame and fortune and ends up rocking the stages and being the next great thing. It’s true, the movie is exactly like that. The plot is very simple, no great surprises, yet this movie has two great things: Cher and Christina Aguilera. Singing.

Of course, if you have two singers of their quality (you may not agree with Cristina’s music but you cannot disagree that she has an AMAZING voice. And she proves this in the movie. Repeatedly.) you cannot expect them not to sing at least once. Well, they do, but alas, they never sing together (bomber).

Now, what I really likes about this musical was that is was for the first part of it, not all about Cristina. Of course, this small town girl named Ali takes a long time to get her chance in this saloon that reminded me greatly of Moulin Rouge (without them all being hookers that is). What would have possed this naive girl to want to perform on this club were the dancers are in very, and I mean VERY, provocative outfits, who knows, but Ali proves to everyone by working really hard as a waitress in the club Burlesque first and then auditioning when she wasn’t supposed to, that she deserves to be there. Persistent.

The choreograph are good, although I don’t know much about them, but I enjoyed them greatly. The acting, well, you have some known actors besides the ones I have already spoken about, they act well. There is also the “pretty and nice boy” (who happens to go very often to the gym, if you know what I mean *wink*) who Ali obviously builds up a friendship with, that also acts reasonably well.

All in all, is a good musical, with good performances and great music (of course, any musical with crappy music is immediately a bad one).

Can be enjoyed alone or with a friend at all times of day, except in the morning with a hangover. Do not mix with the movie Moulin Rouge because one the latter is romantic, and this one is more about talents and the club in it self. It has a little love here and there, but is not the main course.

So that is that one, and my next movie will be…*drum rolls*… “Source Code”, which happens to be Thanks for reading!

Yeah, I’m talking to you.
